A Sgt Pilot, William joined the RAF in 1942 after 5 years as Bookkeeper in the Leather Factory. He was initially attached to Coastal Command before going on to the Desert Air Force in the Middle East where he was shot down. After recovering he went on to Northern Italy flying fighter bombers.
On January 1st 1945 he was killed bombing Marshalling Yards in Trieste, Northern Italy, aged 21. He is buried in Padua War Cemetery, Italy.
William was the son of Percy Hamilton and Florence Amy Frost of Camberwell, London. He also lost another brother in the submarine service, HMS The Narwhal.
