Horace Hollington was a Galley Boy in the Merchant Navy aboard S.S.Empire Caribou.

He died on Saturday 10th May 1941, aged 19.

He was the son of Mrs. M. Hollington of Tilbury.

Horace Hollington left his job in Department 322 in the Rubber Factory to join the Merchant Navy. In the Bata Record of June 6th 1941 he is reported missing after the ship he was on was sunk by enemy action on it’s homeward bound jouney from the United States.

Research by his family has actually shown that his ship was sunk whilst on it’s outward journey
