Richard Bloor was a Pilot Officer with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.
He was born on 21st August 1917 in Karachi, India, he was the son of John and Elizabeth Bloor of Grays Thurrock.
In 1929 hew was living in Chadwell Road, “Jalapalar”, Grays, Essex, with his siblings and mother. His brother Jack also worked for the British Bata Shoe Company and went to Zlin to train before returning to East Tilbury to work in the Leather Factory.
Richard started working for British Bata in 1933 and transferred to Zlin in 1934, where he stayed until 1938. He returned to East Tilbury as an Instructor in Department 487 and spent 4 years in Zlin before taking up his appointment at East Tilbury.
He died in a flying accident on Tuesday 14th April 1942, aged 24 and is buried (along with other members of the crew of the aircraft) in Shropshire.
