MAURICE WILFRED RAYMENT

Maurice Rayment was a Gunner in 23 Field Regiment, Royal Artillery.

He was the son of Harry and Ada E. Rayment (nee Philbey) of Great Tarpots, Benfleet, Essex, Maurice lived in Stanford-le-Hope.

He worked in Supply Department and Department 680 for just over 2 years before leaving at the outbreak of war as a gunner in the Territorial Army.

Maurice was a member of the British Expeditionary Force in Norway and later was wounded in the North African Campaign in 1943.

He died of wounds on Monday 15th November 1943, aged 22 whilst fighting with the Central Mediterranean Forces.

Buried at Minturno War Cemetery Italy.
