GEORGE W HAWKINS
George Hawkins worked in Rubber Factory in Department 321. He Joined the Navy and was in the submarines on H.M.S Forth as a Stoker. He was recorded in the Roll of Honour for Bata as missing,
So his name was added to the War Memorial . This has now been found to be incorrect. George survived the war and on returning to the UK found his family had all moved to Downham Market in Norfolk where he joined them . He didn’t report back to Bata and so was recorded as Missing Presumed Dead.
