When I was invited to write a memoire for Bata’s Memories, I wondered why, when I had never worked for the company and there was nothing I could say. However, when I started to think about it, I realised that Bata Shoe Company had not only been an intrinsic part of my childhood but had also provided an amazing childhood experience in a foreign land – ie., everything below. So yes, I have got Bata memories, but they’re a child’s version because that’s how I remember it all. And remember it I certainly do!
