JAMES ROBERT WELLER
James Weller was a Private with 5th Battalion Essex Regiment. Service Number: 6016987
He was born August 1918 to William & Alice Rose (nee Sinclair) Weller of Tilbury.
Whilst working at East Tilbury he initially employed in the Rubber Factory before transferring to the Building Department. James left for the Army in 1939.
In a letter to the Bata Record just before he died he says that he had received his Christmas Parcel which gave him strength and fortitude to carry on with the task which lay before him.
James died in Italy on Sunday 9th January 1944, aged 25.
