JOHN WILLIAM WRIGHT
John Wright was also known as Jack, he was working in Department 432 Leather Factory as a Laster.
John was born 25/09/1915 and was the Son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Jackson Wright and husband of Grace Ellen Wright (nee Penfold), of Swanscombe Kent. They married 13th Sept 1941.
John joined Bata 20/09/1935, Register No : 2723 and his pervious occupation was a Machine Hand .
He joined the Army in 1940, Royal Artillery 148 (The Bedfordshire Yeo.) Field Regt as a Gunner.

The 148th Bedfordshire Yeomanry Field Artillery Regiment was sent to help defend Singapore in January 1942 John was Capture on the 15/02/42 and became a P.O.W.
John was sent to the Burma-Siam railway also known as the Death Railway, built by Commonwealth Dutch and American prisoners of war, it was a Japanese project driven by the need for improved communications to support the large Japanese army in Burma.
John died 29th August 1943 of Malaria.
