MAURICE WILLIAM ARTHUR WILLIAMSON

In April 1939 it was reported in the Bata Record that Maurice Williamson from the Staff Department and Douglas Bush from the Retail Department had volunteered for service in the Orsett Squadron of the Air Defence Cadet Corps.

Maurice was the son of William and Florence Emily Williamson of Little Thurrock, Grays, Essex. Born 9th June 1923.

Maurice actually worked in the Wages Department for four years before leaving in 1942 to join the R.A.F. and died in an aeroplane accident in America, where he was training with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, on 27th November 1943.  He was just 20 years of age. Service No 1615821

Maurice is buried at  Terrell (Oakland) Memorial Park . Commonwealth burials of the Second World War, all airmen who died while training in Texas at the Basic Flying Training School (1 BFTS).
