SYDNEY EARL REYNOLDS
A Private in the 1st Battalion Suffolk Regiment Service No 5837767, Sydney was born on 26th December, 1913 the son of John George and Elizabeth Jane Reynolds of Cooper Ave Tilbury .
In 1942 Sydney married Frances .N. Case of Stephenson Ave Tilbury at St John Church Tilbury .
His nephew remembers him coming round to say goodbye to his sister before going off to war, he never came home again.
He died on Monday 24th July 1944 aged 30 years. He had been slightly wounded on D-Day and was being taken to a Base Hospital in a Jeep Ambulance when the vehicle was destroyed by a direct hit.

He worked as a Labourer for Mr W. W. Wilson before he joined the Bata Company in December 1933 leaving to join the Army in May 1942. Whilst at East Tilbury he worked as a Sole Cutter in the Rubber Factory.
