For the first time in many years we chose to hold the Bata Heritage Centre Open Day on a Saturday.  This proved to be a popular decision and made for a very busy day for our volunteers.

Among those attending were groups of students from University College London who were studying architecture.

Many of those who came along to the Open Day wanted to take advantage of the guided walking tours.  We were able to take three groups around the Bata residential estate and factory grounds and provide a detailed history of the key landmarks and relate some of the social history about the employees and their families living there.

The Open Day was held in the old Admin building (now known as Building 13).  We were so pleased to hear the experiences of some former employees who had worked there.

We are planning our next Open Day also to be held on a Saturday in April 2018.  We shall publish the date and further details in due course.
